Bid Bakkar

General Manager

Bid graduated from the University of Tunis in Tunisia in 1982, with a major in French. He moved on to the Ecole de Tourisme de Carthage in Tunis and graduated in 1984 with a major in Service, Culinary and Hotel Management.

Bid moved to the United States 1985, working as the restaurant manager at Café Vieux Carre in New Orleans, an establishment featuring haute French cuisine. He has also been employed at the Fairmont and Meridian hotels in New Orleans.

In 1990, Bid moved to Orlando, Florida and worked as the restaurant manager at the prestigious Peabody Hotel until 1992. Marco Island Hilton Resort offered Bid the position of Assistant Food and Beverage Director in 1992, which brought him to Marco. He came to the Island Country Club in 2001 as Assistant Food and Beverage Director and became the Food and Beverage Director in 2003.

During Bid’s work experience he has had many years of culinary training and service training and is a Certified Food and Beverage Manager.

Wayne Kappauf, CGCS

Golf Course Superintendent

Originally from Long Island New York, Wayne has lived in Collier County since 1962. He graduated from Naples High School in 1978 and from Florida Southern College in 1982 with a Bachelors degree in Business Management. Wayne has been in the Golf Course industry for 31 years. After almost 13 years as the Golf Course Superintendent at Quail Run Golf Club in Naples, Wayne became Superintendent of the Island Country Club golf course in 1995.

A Certified Golf Course Superintendent since 1993 Wayne also became a Certified Arborist in 1999 and holds state agricultural licenses in Turf, Ornamental, and Aquatic pest control. A member of the GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America), FGCSA (Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association), EGCSA (Everglades Golf Course Superintendents Association) and USGA (United States Golf Association), Wayne currently serves on the Board of Directors of the FGCSA and EGCSA and is a past president of the EGCSA. In July of 2011, Wayne received the President's Lifetime Achievement Award from the Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association.

Dedicated to continuing education, a love for golf and the promotion of his industry, Wayne is driven to give Island Country Club members the best golf course possible each and every day.

Nina Lane

Director of Fitness
Certified Fitness Trainer and Group Instructor, ACE, NETA, AFAA, SCW

Nina Lane was born and raised in Sweden. She lived an active lifestyle participating in various sports growing up. At age 15 she focused on volleyball and played on a team in the Swedish National League. 1988 Nina decided to come to the United States to improve her English. She ended up working as a linguist at a linguistic software company. Nina competed in triathlons and running as well as playing beach volleyball and windsurfing. Her passion for sports and fitness naturally led her into the fitness industry where in 1992 she started as a group instructor at the Marco Island YMCA a few nights a week, while working as a linguist. Three years later she gave up her linguist position to focus on the fitness field.

Nina was soon promoted from group instructor to fitness director for our YMCA where she ran their fitness program for 14 years before starting her own fitness studio focusing on one-on-one training in a private setting. Each year the number of clients increased and now she has 3 certified and experienced personal trainers working with her.

Nina is a certified personal trainer, certified instructor in group fitness, mat Pilates, Pilates reformer, and cycling.

Nina specializes in personal training, Pilates reformer training, sports specific training, and group classes.

Bob Mehmet

Club Controller

Bob was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and is a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School where he studied Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduating, he attended Adelphi University where he earned a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. He began his career as a staff and then Senior Accountant for a division of American Can Company. He then moved on to become the Assistant Controller for Polygram Records and Centel Financial Systems, both New York based subsidiaries of major national and international corporations. Bob left the corporate world in 1987 and became the Controller for Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, CT where he remained for 17 years before coming to the Island Country Club in June 2004.

He and his wife Terri live in Naples and enjoy golfing, attending oldies concerts and living in paradise as opposed to the cold Connecticut winters.

Neil Platt

Director of House Maintenance

Neil was born in Lakeland, Florida and graduated Lely High School in 1984. Upon graduating high school, he began working in the kitchen at Island Country Club. After many years working in the food and beverage department, Neil was promoted to his current position, as the Director of House Maintenance, in 1999.

Kurt Beattie

Executive Chef

Originally from Michigan, Kurt has lived in Goodland, Florida for over twenty years. He began cooking at 12-years-old in his family’s resort restaurant located in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Kurt’s passion for cooking has allowed him the opportunity to work alongside great chefs in various cities across the United States; from Long Island, New York to the Florida Keys and various private clubs including The Anglers Club, The Old Club, Devon Yacht Club, Ocean Reef Club and most recently, Island Country Club.

Kurt brings over forty years of culinary skills and experience to Island Country Club—offering our members a one-of –a-kind experience of refined American cuisine.

Heather Hall

Director of Membership & Marketing

Originally from Toms River, NJ, Heather Hall was raised here in sunny Marco Island, Florida. She graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Public Relations. With two years’ experience here at Island Country Club as the Assistant Membership Director, Heather was recently promoted to Director of Membership and Marketing in September 2016. She brings to her new role a passion to serve our Membership and the Marco Island community, creative new ideas and an infectious smile! Heather is a 2017 graduate of Leadership Marco, a member of the Marco Island Kiwanis Club and an adviser for Marco Scene Magazine. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Derek, and young son, Preston.

Milos Vasovic

Director of Tennis

Milos He is an active member of the USPTA, CMAA and serves as the sitting President of the Melbourne District of the USPTA. Milos has a Bachelors of the Arts and an MBA from Southeastern Louisiana University. He comes to us as the Director of Tennis and Fitness for the at the Eau Gallie Yacht Club in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. Milos is an accomplished tennis professional with an extensive list of playing accomplishments which include:
• 2013 USPTA District 15 Professional of the Year
• 2012, 2013, 2014 USPTA Grand Prix Player of the Year (Men's 35's)
• 2014 National Clay Court Champion (Men's 35's singles)
• 2016 USPTA National Clay Court Champion (Men's 35's doubles)
• Current NTRP Rating of 5.5

Milos brings to Island Country Club a wealth of experience and enthusiasm which will serve the membership extremely well. He currently lives in Southwest Florida with his wife, Bethany and daughter, Vera.

Ben Tilley

Head Golf Professional

Ben was born and raised in Newhall, England which is located in the midlands area of England. Growing up, Ben played football (soccer) and golf every spare minute he had, when he was not in school. Ben made the move to the United States in 2002, to attend Martin Methodist College in Tennessee, where he was on a soccer and golf scholarship. Ben played for four years on both teams and graduated with a degree in Sports Management.

Ben went on to move to Ocean City, Maryland to work for a soccer coaching company. It is here where he became more involved in golf. Ben accepted a position at Glen Riddle Golf Club as 1st assistant, where he stayed for seven years and went on to obtain his Class A Membership in the PGA.

In 2015, Ben moved to Naples with his wife, Olya and son, Ivan and began working at Cedar Hammock Country Club as their 1st Assistant. In 2016, Ben was hired as Assistant Golf Professional at Island Country Club, and has since been promoted to Head Golf Professional. This past summer, on July 4th, the Tilley family welcomed a new addition, Stella ---- a birthday they will never forget!

Ben is excited to be serving the club in his new role as Head Golf Professional and is looking forward to the upcoming season. He feels it’s a great time to be a member here at Island Country Club with the new course and all the fun to be had.
